Re: Mums And Choice
Don't close it yet.. I just got here! Reading through the posts you keep bringing up that your system should be "means tested"... I have to giggle a little because it sounds like you want OUR welfare system... trust me.. you don't.. What happens is you get people who take advantage and will start having more kids just to get more money. Then you have those who work hard to take care of their kids but who get stuck in the middle.. they make just enough money that they can't qualify for any help but can't afford things like medical insurance...
So.. is it better to help out everyone whether they need it or not or to only help out those that have to meet a "means test" AND who are now refusing to work so they can keep meeting that "means test"?

Yea, it was a cool movie. I usually don't get into movies like that. Too sappy for me, but that was good. Been trying to talk the ghost into seeing it, but he says it's been getting bad reviews in the UK. Critics.. geez
Re: Mums And Choice
And he listens to critics pfft lol
Yeah i heard it was getting bad reviews too, i have no idea why it was magnificent! but the reviews dint stop me from going to see it, i absolutly love will smith and his serious roles he blows me away, when i heard in an interview with him that it was like no film he has ever done before i felt compelled to go and see it lol and was in no way disappointed!
I think it god bad reviews because people can't cope with will in a serious role for once and that the film isn't all happy and jolly like most and films and some people can't cope with that, also the ending might have dis pleased some people (which i wont give away incase ne1 goes to see it)
but trust me people GO AND SEE THE FILM!!!!!!

That's exactly what I said, plus the subject matter is one that's taboo to many people. But it was well worth watching. Even made my eyes water a bit.
Re: Mums And Choice
If you call work and say you have a stomach virus, they MUST let you stay off on pay, as they are a burger bar, therefore, it is health and safety.
Just a heads up to ya, lass.

The food industry there must be different than over here. I use to have to let the cookies loose in a trash can before they'd let me go home here. And they'd be sure I clocked out too, no pay for being sick here. lol

In our city, if you are on a bus with a buggy/pram that does not fold, and the wheelchair space is needed, the mother is not permitted on the bus.

Nah mate.
You are sure to have health and safety regulations that penalise dirty restaurants, and such, in your state, right?
Well, it would come under the same thing, esp bad for a national chain, as she works in.

Depends on what the mother looks like. And if the person in the wheelchair is a woman or not and what she looks like.
Re: Mums And Choice
That's terrible because no matter where in the world u work if it's against health and saftey and u wokr with food, u shudnt work if u have a virus, it puts every1 else at risk too!

Yea, we got em. There was a big sign that told you to stay at home if you were sick too. There was also a boss asking me how bad I needed my job. Plus I was young, dumb, and gung ho back then.

Macdonalds is OK I guess if you are in a big hurry. But I really like home-made better. I will bet that you can't get a Pineapple-teriyaki-pecan burger w/cheddar there can you. Sure do hope that you feel better in the morning kiddo. Being sick sure can be the pits, huh?
