Don't you think this proposal is pure bullshit? To me, it shows exactly what the democrats priorities are, and it's their political power... Not America.

With many U.S. newspapers struggling to survive, a Democratic senator on Tuesday introduced a bill to help them by allowing newspaper companies to restructure as nonprofits with a variety of tax breaks.
"This may not be the optimal choice for some major newspapers or corporate media chains but it should be an option for many newspapers that are struggling to stay afloat," said Senator Benjamin Cardin.
A Cardin spokesman said the bill had yet to attract any co-sponsors, but had sparked plenty of interest within the media, which has seen plunging revenues and many journalist layoffs.

Funny how they want to help save the papers who for the most part support them yet they want to use the fairness doctrine to shut down talk radio which mostly, does not support them.

Actually Grim, I do think this is BS. Times are changing. More and more people read the newspapers from the web. I have to laugh because these "new papers" could get good revenue on line. So why save something that can't be saved. This is stupidity on the highest level. LOL. They could do something like some "papers" are already doing...... Putting there paper online. They could even have a selling point for "papers" if they did it once a week. For example a regular sunday paper. Something one would look forward too. So the people could have those times of enjoyment of reading the "paper" over coffee. The companies who put out the "paper" would still profit, and everyone would be happy. Those who don't make it, oh well.
