Obama cleaning up after Bush-Stem cells

I was delighted to hear, as I'm sure many (but not all!) of you are, that Obama has lifted the ban on the government funding of stem cell research using human embryos. This ban was put in place by Bush in 2001 and was a clear example of one person's religous views and misunderstanding of science getting in the way of an area with HUGE potential, in what is supposed to be a secular country.

Now I feel stem cell research is a very interesting area of research, and all the benefits Obama describes in the video are huge. However, do not get your hopes up! It is still so early on, all of this investment COULD be for nothing. I'm extremely happy to hear this from Obama, not just for the potential medical and scientific benefits, but also as it is a breath of fresh air and a step in the right direction.

Now I'm a Brit, so would love to hear the views of any Americans here

I am also in favor of stem cell research and this one area that I disagreed totally with President Bush.
