I am here. Are you here? If so, then this is where we are. If you are not here, then you must be elsewhere. If you are not here, and are not elsewhere, then I am talking to myself. Am I talking to myself? Answer only if you are here, because if you are not here, that would mean I am answering myself, too. Or, perhaps, it is I who is not here, and you are talking to and answering yourself. This can't be good......

That's a good point, P. Note...I was just wondering why only some folks listed their location when registering...by doing so it shows up on the member list and under the avatars. and I find it interesting

My apologies.
"Too much info" can be a problem for many folks (paranoia). Especially when someone asks for it. Not that I mind, but you aren't the only one watching, and the scammers will exploit any opportunity. The very reason the scam site was started in the first place.
In "the other" California, if you must know. But I won't put it in my profile.

I'm guessing that not too many of us Americans are aware of where that might be located, so your identity/location is pretty secure here!

In CA, but not the CA you see in movies (most, anyway) or the news. As far from the "city" as I can get. Ironically, "California City" (not where I live, but I do visit) is a small town in the middle of nowhere, and not like the TV/movie CA at all. The largest/oldest trees on Earth are but a few miles drive away for me. The state is a lot more than SF, LA, and Hollywood. What you see in the media and movies is but a very small part of the state. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), those places (cities) are the most populous, and set policy for 90% of the remaining real estate. (examples) Just like they are trying to make wood burning illegal state wide, but it's the ONLY way I heat my home (other options are either unreachable, or too costly). And, electric vehicles may be fine for the masses, but I couldn't make it back from the grocery store on a charge, and I can't haul a cord of wood or livestock in a Prius (well....probably could, but it wouldn't be pretty).

Cali's a big state, that's for sure. I have a lot of family in Cali and half my hubby's family lives there, so we are no strangers to Cali. We lived there for a short time, too. My oldest son just moved back. He was studying and living in Santa Barbara.
You're living way up there huh? Are you any where near Lake Nacimiento, California? We've spent good times there.
Like you, we're heating our home strictly by wood this year. It's been great. It's kind of funny how it happened.
This summer, my second oldest son bought a trailer and a hitch for my Jeep, for no particular reason, I thought. Then one day I got a huge package delivered by UPS. I said to the guy what the hell's this? He said, I dunno it's for Keith! He came running down stairs and signed for it. I'm still thinking what the hell?
Turns out he bought a wood burning stove-as a family gift for no particular reason except to save us money. He then went to work for a tree guy, chopping down trees and took his pay in wood. He did this for a few months. Then he bought a wood splitter for us and split 3+ years worth of wood, himself! and neatly stacked it all in the yard.
Meanwhile, I'm still looking at this humongous box in my family room and now it's Fall. But he's working his tail off with the wood project so I say nothing. Soon enough, he buys some awesome natural travertine stone tiles and oak flooring and designs and installs a beautiful raised hearth for the stove that looks like it was always there.
Finally, the unveiling! The Stove. Whatever on that, blah.
But he installs it himself complete with cutting a hole in our very high cathedral ceiling, and doing whatever he had to do on the roof top to install it. Everything has to be done to code, inspected and passed. The kid did math calculations (he's so anal and his father is a mathematician) to make sure he didn't have to re-do anything. Finally, everything's completed, the inspector came and told the kid that he did a nice job! Honestly, I never thought I would say this, but it's been great, if not for having the stove, but watching my kid take the initiative to do something nice for his family.
We're heating 3,000 sq.ft. strictly with this stove and we haven't been cold one day!

So small, that if you are hit by a car, the odds are, it's your own car that hit you.
