What If They FOUND E.T.?
Hypothetically speaking, what if they discovered 'life' out there? [Branching off Old Timer's Thread]
Not necessarily civilized life, but life. How would that effect people of the theist persuasion? Christianity would be a start, via it's popularity;

Welcome to the forum. Always interested in a new point of view.
But what if they have their own beliefs and want us to convert? What if they are right and we are wrong? What if---Are you siting down? What if we are ---them. A lost colony so to say. Does anyone think there is a possibility of that?

What if they are the same, but the environment was slightly different, only to have them evolve slightly different over time. The same. One eye? The same. Imposable thumbs on BOTH sides of the hand? The same. 8ft tall? They could be the same...but would the environment effect them the same? That is, to say, we found something very similar to us. The same. Maybe they see colors we cannot? That would be a doozy.
But what if it wasn't even an organized colony of anything? What if it was an organized anything, but something we could hardly even fathom?
Fancy that.

Maybe they have super-evolved pores that allow them to absorb nutrients and enzymes. Maybe their idea of food is rubbing paste on the inside of their elbows. :O

what ever floats their boat as long as they don't mean me any harm...its possible that they are here among us right this moment and we're not aware of them!!! I wouldn't expect them to look or be anything near human...I can ac cept that.

Re: What If They FOUND E.T.?
I agree completely. My hypothetical was WHAT IF THEY WERE LIKE US. But, you're right. There's no fathoming what size, shape, color [if any], etc these organisms could be.
It might be lame and all we find is unintelligent single-celled organisms. OR MAYBE SOMETHING NEW OMG.
