Didn't get good reviews here.
If you are talking about some old classics, what about Get Carter or the original Italian Job?
Brilliant.
That might be because it's not his usual kicking ass type of role. I notice a lot of people here didn't like it because of what it's about and they find it hard to believe the character would put that much thought into what he was going to do, and be that generous about it.
I haven't seen Get Carter. Now the Italian Job is a classic.
The remake was poor though, in part because all of a sudden it was Americanised.
The whole essence of the first story is that it was bunch of loveable British rogues, using Britsh cars to carry out a big job.
Get Carter you would love, not the remake, the original, with Michael Caine.
I think Tarantino is a v skilled director of films, I like almost all that he has done, or been involved in.
Coen brothers, as well. They usually punt out a good film.

Re: That's Entertainment!
Okay, I kept them!
First of, let's be honest, this film relies totally on one gimmick, and that is the 3D effects specs.
Factor them out, and it is the sort of film that you would easy forget.
The 3D effects are good though, come on huge leaps since 3D was first around.
Will be interesting to see what cinema is like 10-15 yrs from now...

18 British pounds = 26.1702 U.S. dollars. Are you shizting me? That is obscene. How do kids do it, when they take their girl on a date? Terrible. If you were to have had, say, 2 large popcorns and 2 large tonics, like coke; what would that have set you back, total-incl the 2 tickets. Just for laughs. The Ghost Of Yeah Well Fi wrote:HotParadox wrote:What'd it cost you for tickets and grub?

Okay, a large popcorn might set you back about $8.
A hotdog might be $6.
More or less.
'Tis why I am reluctant to eat there.

2 popcorns=$16. That's $42. I'm gonna take a stab at the large cokes...2=$10 more or less. So we're talking $52 big ones for a simple date without dinner. Unflippinreal.

Yup, that would be about right.
Okay, we will play with this.

I only have gas central heating.
Each month, how much do you think each costs?

Let me see.
Apartment would be about $900 a month.
Then there is council tax. That is another $100 a month.
Then there is elect. About $100 a month.
Gas? About $80 a month.
Weekly food bill - About $480 a month.

So, I'm in the ballpark. Including food, your crib is costing you about 13 bills a month. It would be more here, in the city. Are you guys going to watch the Oscars this year?
The lavish Oscars in this economy makes me a little uncomfortable. I watch it every year, but I'm not really sure if I will this year. I probably will but right now, I'm just not feeling it.
Apparently, they are toning it down a little, but by Hollywood standards, I not sure what that really means.

Recession takes little sheen off Oscar gold
By Bob Tourtellotte Bob Tourtellotte 2 hrs 11 mins ago
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Whether it's the recession, the age of Obama or the fact a hopeful movie is favored to win best film, it's clear that change has come to Hollywood as Oscar week kicks off on Monday.
Movie fans and critics have escaped the gloomy economy by seeking out Academy Award front-runner "Slumdog Millionaire," a rags-to-riches romance about a poor, young Indian man on an odds-defying quest on a television game show.
"Slumdog" follows two straight years of dark crime dramas -- "No Country for Old Men" and "The Departed" -- winning the world's top film honor, the Oscar, for best motion picture.
Party planners and caterers say plans for Oscar festivities have slowed ahead of Sunday's Oscar show. Celebrity gift-getting suites are open for business but organizers say giving back seems to be more of a priority among the stars.
"Obama asked us for a day of service and we're asking for a night to make a difference," celebrity talk show hostess Leeza Gibbons said.
Gibbons and singer Olivia Newton-John's are hosting an Oscar night benefit for Gibbons' Memory Foundation and Newton-John's Cancer and Wellness Center.
"A lot of the glamour associated with the Oscars is still there but it's tempered by the economic times," Gibbons said.
Vanity Fair, which once ruled the roost of Oscar parties, will renew its annual gala but the affair will be toned down compared to previous years due, in part, to the recession.
Elton John and David Furnish are hosting their annual charity event but gone are last year's competing private affairs held by pop stars Madonna and Prince. In their place, Hollywood's elite may be rolling over to a Mercedes-Benz-sponsored party.
GLOOM BUT NO DOOM
Budgets have been reduced for many of these lavish pre-Oscar and Oscar night events. "Some haven't cut 1 percent; others have cut 75 percent," said Michael Gapinski, vice president at caterer Along Came Mary.
The posh hotel suites where fashion designers, jewelry makers and cosmetic companies pamper the stars, remain a stop on Oscar week lists. But charity also will be emphasized in the give-away suites with guests given the option of donating products or money to others, said Gavin Keilly, founder of gift suite organizer GBK Productions.
Oscar organizers also promise a new look to the gala awards ceremony on Sunday night. Earlier this month Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which gives out the awards, said the show's producers "are going to take some risks, many risks, some bold."
He did not detail the risks and producers Bill Condon and Laurence Mark -- who backed movie musical "Dreamgirls" -- also are being tight-lipped. Australian song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman is the host, a spot usually reserved for a comedian, so many observers expect a music-oriented type of stage show.
What is known is that "Slumdog," with a cast of mostly unknown Indian actors, is clearly favored to win best movie after sweeping up awards from Hollywood producers, directors and writers, many of whom also belong to the Academy. The movie's British director, Danny Boyle, is the front-runner for the directing prize.
The other nominees are "Milk," about slain gay activist Harvey Milk; "Frost/Nixon," recounting TV interviews of former U.S. President Richard Nixon by British TV host David Frost; "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," starring Brad Pitt as a man who ages backwards; and the Holocaust drama "The Reader."
A close race is expected in the best actor category between Sean Penn as Harvey Milk and Mickey Rourke playing a faded sports star in "The Wrestler." Frank Langella as Nixon is a dark horse nominee who could break through.
Kate Winslet playing a woman with a secret past in "The Reader" and Meryl Streep as Catholic nun out to stop sexual abuse in "Doubt" are in a pitched battle for best actress.
The late Heath Ledger is widely expected to pick up best supporting actor as villain The Joker in Batman movie "The Dark Knight" and Penelope Cruz is picked by many to win best supporting actress as an artist in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Re: That's Entertainment!
I just wanted to pop in, we took the daughter to go see Coraline for Valentine's Day, it was FANTASTIC! Very original, a little creepy, but great story and well worth the money. We went to a matinee, so tickets for the 3 of us cost $17.25, I got a small thing of popcorn and a large drink which was $8.
As for the rent thing, holy crap! I miss the apartment we had in Utah - $425 gas included, 2 bedrooms, electricity was $115 a month. That place was a steal.

I would rather buy the disc for the same price you paid for the refreshmens.
As far as the apartment in Utah. Here in Jackson, I pay 1,000.00 for a 2 bedroom and pay all of my own utilities.

Ya, rent isn't that low in Cache Valley anymore. Here in Evanston we pay $625 and our own utilities, 2 bedrooms, w/d hookups, updated kitchen and bathrooms too. It's a pretty decent place, and our income is much higher here than it was in Utah. Jackson is pricey, though. We'd like to move to a bigger city (Rock Springs, Casper) but the cost of living is so much higher, and it puts us a lot farther away from my step son so we won't. We are considering moving to Park City, though. It's really pricey, but it's really nice and has an excellent school district.

Who would play you (all of you), in a film?
Doesn't need to be someone that looks like you.
And what sort of role would you give yourself?
Who would you cast to be in the film with you?
