Yes I have to admit Mike Lange has some great calls.
The scratch my back with a hack saw call, is my favorite.

Yeah I think thats my fave too Theo, "Buy Sam a drink, and get his dog one too" is a good one too. Always loved "He beat him like a rented mule!!" too because someone is usually doing something spectacular when he says that.
I dont know whats wrong with my Pens this year, I hope they snap out of it quick.

The Pens have decent talent. What is their payroll?

Re: Rick Jeanneret
Had to look that up
$51.07 million
http://www.letsgopens.com/pens_roster.php?sort=Salary&dir=desc
They got absurd talent and they are fighting for a playoff spot, its unbelievable.
The cap is 56.7 million in the NHL this year. So they used just about all of it.

I am certainly not qualified to speak for the Pens. Except for what I said. I think they have decent talent. In other words. Yes changes have to be made. Though I feel they are not that bad of a team. Increase payroll a bit, and I think you could have a really good team.

Re: Rick Jeanneret
They cant increase payroll though, they are pretty much at the cap, they were even closer to it until they made the trades the other day(Ryan Whitney). The cap is 56.7 mill.
We were in the finals last year, basically the same team, except Hossa is gone. Lot of injuries and just not performing, we fired the coach a couple weeks ago, maybe that will get them going. If they get in, no one in the playoffs will WANT to play them.
Last year, they played like this for a bit, but not this long into the season, then they just went on a long run after the All-Star Break all the way to the finals where they were unstoppable. Waiting for that run to start. Hope it starts soon, lol.
If we are short on talent, its on defense.

Re: Rick Jeanneret
A good hockey team is a team with a defenseman who can not only defend. Not only one who has the speed and ability to not only defend, but one with an offensive mind. Not a defensive player who will do the chuck and duck. A defensive player who can see an chance to score, and make that happen.
My favorite play in hockey is the short handed goal.

You really should consider changing your avatar, before attempting to speak intelligently about hockey, 'philus.

Ok I won't talk about it anymore.
Excuse me for only expressing my opinion. I never said nor implied I was an expert on the subject. Just stating my feelings. So fine I will leave this to the experts and just shut up.
Pardon me.

Sorry. I think you misunderstood me. Your dialog is fine. You seem out of costume, though.
Try this avatar. Just for hockey-talk, though:

I thought I got cross-checked. Two minutes in the penalty box for me, for not seeing the humor in that.

No problem. Everyone has an off day.
There are a few around here (and the other place) who deserve a cross-check, but you're not one of them (yet). If it's from me, you'll know it. There'll be no doubt.
(more sarcasm, of course)
