PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP Empty PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP

Post by HotParadox Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:02 pm

Hey Guys,

While moderating the site tonight, I noticed that some of you were having problems regarding the HTML function.

That is because it was not set to "ON" in the Admin/Moderator level. The default was set to "OFF", so no matter what you did on your end, HTML would not remain "On".

I have fixed the problem. For you to activate it, you may now go into your profiles and select HTML:ON

Meanwhile, if you encounter any problems, ask me and I will try to resolve the problem.

That's why I'm making the big bucks, kids. Very Happy

Signatures should be working now for everyone, make sure you have it turned on in your "preferences" tab in your profile. They will start showing on every post you make after a few seconds ago, they were turned off in the Admin panel by default, sorry about that.

Thanks OT for making me aware of the problem! Smile

PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP Empty Re: PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP

Post by Admin Fri Jan 16, 2009 8:04 am

For anyone still having difficulty using HTML, there are 2 things you as a user have to do. The HTML is turned on, on the administration end, thanks to HP.

#1, do this

Enable HTML In Profile

Navigate to "My Profile" (found in the Log-In widget or on the Navigation bar displayed as Profile). >

Preferences tab >

Scroll down to Always Allow HTML :, and select Yes. Save the settings afterwards.

I also recommend that you make an announcement to your members on how to enable their HTML in their profile with the above steps to enable HTML in the profile.

#2, when you are typing your thread/post before you hit "send" make sure the box is not checked that says "Disable HTML in this post", you will find this right under the "preview" and "Send" boxes under "Options" when you are typing or editing a post

I got a live leak.com video to work in the invisible forum last night using a HTML embed code, so if you do these 2 things, everything should be fine.

I will be making a step by step sticky with screenshot pictures this weekend.

Hey HP, your problem child is back. How can I post just part of what someone else said instead of the the whole thing. I know if I hit the quote button it will show all of it but I may just want to quote only a sentence or so.

OK, first you copy just what you want to quote.

Then you paste that portion to your reply page.

Now, before the quote type this, just like this
except replace "G" with an "H"-I had to trip the system so you could see what I've done.

At the end of the quote type this, just like this [/guote] except replace the "g" with a "q", for the same reason.

That should do it, luv. Tell me how that works.

The best way to add a picture to your post is like this: Once you hit "Quote", you will see icons above the posting space. Starting from left to right, go to the 15th (host and image) or the 16th icon (insert image). Then it tells you what to do. Let me know if that works for you.

Are you trying to add a picture to your post? If you are, then you have to hit 'quote' or 'post reply' anyway, in order to make a post, correct? Well, when you hit 'quote' or 'post reply', the icons appear, above the area that you type in your post. You cannot see the icons until you hit 'quote' or 'post reply'. That's when the icons appear on your screen.

You're not getting senile! Not unless you're going to Bennigan's for the 4:30 Early Bird Special. Very Happy

I dont know OT, but you can always use a site like www.photobucket.com to host your image and then use the [IMG] codes they provide, upload is lightning fast for 1 pic on photobucket.

I think we have an attachment gallery option, maybe I should activate it, its only 10MB though I think.

PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP Empty Any Luck, OT?

Post by HotParadox Sun Jan 18, 2009 10:10 am

OT, did that work for you? Answer me. What is the first thing you must do in order to answer me?
First thing you must do is you MUST hit "post reply" or "quote". Do that.
And you will see the icons above the posting area. Let's just do that first.
Then tell me if you see the square icons, beginning with a square that contains the letter "B". It stands for "Bold".
Answer me, oK.

Does that mean you figured the whole thing out? I'll assume you did not, so...

OK, now starting from the left icon, go to the 16th icon. It's where you insert image URL. Now do it, ok, and tell me what happens, if it works for you.

PROBLEM? ASK ME FOR HELP Empty viewing threads

Post by Big Slick Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:52 am

HP, you know on SCAM how you could click user hp and it would show you all the threads you have posted on and from there you can see if there were any new posts on that thread? Is there a similar function here. I like to keep track of the threads I posted on and check on them to see if anyone has commented but it seems like you have to remember which threads you posted on and go into the main menu and search for that thread. I've tried to click on the "watch this thread" but I can't find where I'm watching them at.

There is a function that says "Watch Thread" . I think that's what you're looking for on this board. Give me a little time. I'll check it more thoroughly and get back to you ASAP.

Click on Home then click on Political Chat.

Do you see this:

* View posts since last visit • * View your posts •* View unanswered posts

And this:
________________________________________________________________________
Scampolitics :: ScamPolitics :: Political Chat ............................ Mark all topics read • Actions !

If you can see those functions, that may be simpler, but they may only be visible to Mods.

***If you see "Actions" CLICK on it.***

I don't know how long.

Hmm, I'd stick with the first way. I think that one watches indefinitely until you decide not to watch it any more, but you might have to experiment.

I'm just playing here, trying to figure out different stuff. I'll let you know if something better comes up. Very Happy

For lack of activity? I don't think lack of activity will automatically boot it out. L, P and I can remove a thread if we so desire for whatever reason, but the system doesn't do that, for the reason of lack of activity.
